Using Yard Nights means agreeing to the house rules below. They're short, because it's a small yard.

Notes from our lawn, decisions on yours

Every night note is editorial writing about evenings we spent in our own backyard, offered as ideas and method for a general reader. It is not childcare guidance, not an assessment of your garden, your weather or your family, and not a substitute for the judgement of the adults on the spot. You know your yard, your children and your neighbourhood; deciding what is suitable — which activities, which ages, which nights, how much supervision — rests entirely with the responsible adults there, not with a website. Outdoor spaces have their ordinary hazards, and weather has its own opinions; check both before you pitch.

Whose campfire stories these are

The night notes, illustrations and design belong to Yard Nights. Share links freely, quote a line or two with credit and a link, and ask us in writing before republishing a note in full or lightly disguised.

Playing fair

No unlawful use of the site, no attempts to break or overload it, and no scraping its contents with automated tools.

Where our blanket ends

We keep the notes accurate and current as best we can and fix what we get wrong. We can't warrant that every idea suits every yard, child or evening, and, so far as the law allows, Yard Nights accepts no liability for harm or loss connected with use of the site.
